Reverence For Death

I studied a little Albert Schweitzer in my undergrad as part of a certificate in Peace Studies: Conflict Resolution Management.

This certificate doesn't help my parenting in any way but I do recall something the good doctor said: "Reverence for life."

But how can we revere life when it never ends? How can we consider life precious and rare when it never ends? Religion and eternal life are at odds with reverence for life.

Perhaps if we had a reverence for death, life would be a little more valuable, no?
